I’ve loved dogs for as long as I can remember. From my childhood Basset Hound to my youth spent dog walking, pet sitting, and caring for dogs of all breeds, ages, needs, and personalities, I’ve always loved watching dogs operate and figuring out what they truly enjoy. Some of my earliest and fondest memories include my uncle’s Bull Mastiff and my aunt’s Doberman, who were two of the dogs that first sparked my love for the species.

I got my current dog, Rukka, in 2018, and was quickly reminded how much I enjoy learning about dogs and finding new ways to strengthen the relationship I have with them through training and nutrition. In 2025, I added Toby to my family, giving me another opportunity to learn from and work with a very different dog. Now, after working and training professionally with hundreds of dogs, my passion for helping dogs and their owners better understand one another is stronger than ever. I believe every dog is an individual, and I enjoy finding the approaches, tools, and communication that make the most sense for each dog. My goal is to help dogs build confidence, help owners communicate clearly with their dogs, and ultimately help them live a happier, more harmonious life together.

I hold a degree in Animal Care & Management, where I studied canine behavior and gained hands-on experience working with animals (including dogs and chickens!). I’ve also volunteered with the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland and completed additional coursework in animal welfare, behavior, and canine training. I continue to seek out education from experienced professionals and trainers whose work challenges me to think critically and continue evolving my own approach and improving my skill set. My education and years of hands-on experience have shaped the way I approach training, and I feel incredibly lucky to get to do what Child Ivy would have considered her dream job!
